I think the absolute best way to teach children to live a healthy lifestyle is to lead by example. Have healthy foods in the house and get out and exercise with your children so they learn to live an active life.

I think if you just introduce healthy foods like lots of fruits and vegetables at a young age you won't have any problems getting them to keep it up as they get older.

I totally agree, do not ask your children to eat something. Children usually want to do the opposite of what you tell them to cause of the rebel inside of them. What you want to do is make it a normality. If they have to choose, make the selection out of a couple of fruits.

Well, for starters, I wouldn't "ask" kids to eat fruits and vegetables. These foods are a part of life and kids need to get used to them early. It's all about what is available and offered to them. If there is ice cream in the house, they're going to want it. If the only thing available for dessert is a choice between a banana and a peach, they will eventually catch on.

What is the best way of teaching children to live healthy lifestyle? My sister in law gets hard time just to ask her children to take more vegetables and fruit and eat less ice cream.
