My husband had these as a child and apparently it is fairly common. He would also get leg cramps from his muscles not growing as fast as his bones were. Ibprofen may work a little better than acetaminophen for this kind of pain,

This is oh so true. I had a friend who's son complained of pain and she ignored me when I told her it was probably growing pains. It got so bad he would wake up in the middle of the night crying. When he finally saw a doctor he said it was growing pains and nothing he could do but give the kid a tylenol.

Could very well be. My son was told the same thing. He grew tall quickly and they said it was growing pains. The pains stopped once he stopped growing. I would trust the doctor but take her back if it gets a lot worse.

My daughter shot right up and is now taller than me. She is almost 5 foot 10 and she complains sometimes of her knees and legs hurting. The doctor told her it is probably growing pains?
