It really depends on the stage. If they caught it pretty early, it probably means that a mastectomy should be more than sufficient – in other words, it isn't life threatening. I wish her the best of luck!

Any update on this? I hope that they did find it early and that she will beat it. My friend was just diagnosed too and they said it was Stage 1. So she should be ok. She is just having the lump removed instead of the entire breast.

Do you know what stage it was? Stage 0 and Stage 1 breast cancer has 100% prognosis of recovery. Is she going to have to have a mastectomy? I am sorry your family is going through this tough time.

I'm scared, the whole family is scared. I know that breast cancer is pretty routine now, or so they are telling me. What is she in for? What is the survival rate? They said they caught it early!
