I would suggest swimming. It is not only good for your lower back but for all the parts of your body. If you don't have time for swimming then you can have stretching every break that you have in your work so that your back would not be strained for too much work.

I know that there are exercises that you can do for your back but your best bet would be to either ask your doctor or look online for some exercises so that you can see pictures or videos of how to do them properly.

My lower back has really started bothering me, and I probably just need to exercise. I sit too much at work. What are the best exercises to strengthen my lower back or abdomin so that I am not so sore. I really don't want to take pills for this.
