By early intervention I mean that the child sees a specialist who can help the child learn skills so he can have the social skills needed to interact in society. I've seen kids where there wasn't early intervention and they have a challenging life and the parents get worn out taking care of the child.

I would first ask your physician as I am sure he probably sees other patients that are autistic if he knew of a local support group. I would then go online and do a search for one in your area if he can't help you.

A friend of mine in Arizona has her son who deals with this as well and she ended up finding a doctor online who was local to her that helped to counsel kids in the area. She then went on to start finding other moms dealing with the same issue and then found a local support groupd for both the parents and the kids.
Tony what do you mean by an intervention?
Definitions of intervention on the Web:
the act of intervening (as to mediate a dispute, etc.)

One of the places that I'd start with first is with your local community mental health center. If they don't know, ask around at school and see if teachers or counselors knowwhere you can get help.

What's the best way to find someone or some kind of service or agency that will provide early intervention for a child with autism?
