That's great it works for you. I am not sure if it would also work for me though. Normally when I express my anger that way (or the similar ways), it would be worse and I would be angrier than before.

I find that hitting a pillow isn't gratifying enough when I'm angry. I have a heavy punching bag in my house and when I'm angry I go and beat it until I'm exhausted and the anger is gone.

LOL That's great Anton. So you hit someone else when angry with your husband? Who is usually be the victim to channelize your anger? Do you find random people or do you have certain volunteers for the purpose?

I used to hit the pillows when I get frustrated and angry with my husband. Or I go out and yell or hit something else. Being separated from him, I don't get angry anymore. LOL.

Deep breathings usually help a bit, but it doesn't get me completely relieved from the bad feeling. I would usually take my bike and ride it around till I get relieved.

I don't hit pillows to channelize my anger, I shoot them LOL. Just kidding. To get relieved from anger, I usually do a few deep breathings, and it will normally do the trick.

Actually it's much better if no one hurt and no pillow hurt either. I have to congrat you for having a great life, that you don't have anything to be angry with anymore. How did you cope with your anger in the past?

I really don't have anything in my life that angers me anymore, but there was a time hwne I did, although hitting pillows wouldn't do the trick to help me calm down. Whatever relief you can find from anger and frustration is good…as long as no one gets hurt

Sometimes hitting the pillow helps but most often it doesn't. I usually get relief when the issue is settled. I need to be proved wrong or right for me to calm down.

It's better than hitting the wall or someone! I love it. I usually go outside and yell! Yell to the top of my lungs. I also go for walks and walk really fast. It gets me over the anger quicker.

That's great, Sheila. If you are good in verbal communication, you would have no issue expressing yourself and asserting your needs clearly. No need to hit pillows then.

I'm lucky to be a naturally laid back person. The things that anger me are injustice and cruelty and I can usually deal with these things with words, either on paper or on the telephone and this suits me fine.

It is an old, safe yet rather stupid way of channelizing your anger. I think not only kids but also some adults applying the method. Do you hit pillows when you get angry? Does it work? Do you feel relieved after that?
