If you know someone who needs anger therapy, don't tell them when they are angry!! Wait until they are calm.
I didn't take classes, but I did go to therapy and learned what was making me feel angry inside. That helped me deal with my anger. I still get angry, but not nearly as much as I used to.

It really depends on the person, whether it works or not. Presuming or having a preconceived idea that something is not going to work is definitely not the advised thought process. Anger management also concentrates on prevention so it may help to get into less fights in the first place for instance!

There are people who really need help in dealing with anger. It is not something that should be bbottled-up inside you and they are taught how to control the expression of their anger.

I took the classes. They really helped me to deal with my anger in a much better way. You have to sometimes just walk away until you both cool down. Otherwise you end up saying things you don`t really mean. And also some things are not worth fighting over.

My husband needs to go get anger therapy, he is constantly blowing up around the kids and me. How do talk to someone that has that problem about that without making them mad?

I would think it would work. I would hope it would work. I know some people who need to learn how to deal with their anger a bit better. I'm thinking I could use them as punching bags! kidding of course!

I have a friend who seriously needs to take some of these classes. I also grew up with a father who could have used them too. I don't know how they work as I have never taken any classes like this. When I'm angry, I box my boxing bag in the basement!

I think the idea with those classes is that they teach you techniques and other coping methods to deal with anger. I think they also try to get to the root of the problem and figure out why there is a lack of control. I'm just speculating here because I've never been to an anger management class, but this is what would make sense to me.

I wonder about anger management courses and if they truly work. You go in and learn about how to manage your anger but you are not in the heat of the moment at the time, so how do you know if it is really working?
