Yes it's very contagious depending on the types of the illness. By the way there is four types of pink eye: allergic, viral, bacterial and chemical pink eye. It's the viral and bacterial pink eye which are contagious.

I have never heard of betel leaves. When ever my kids had pink eye I always had to get a prescription from a doctor. It`s very contagious too.

I usually use betel leaves to cure pink eye and it will usually do the trick. A betel leaf contains chavicol which has powerful antiseptic properties. You can also use betel leaves to relieve sprue.

Is there any kind of alternative medicine for pink eye? I know it is caused by a virus therefore shouldn't it go away on it's own? Is there any herbs you can take to get rid of it or must you see a doctor for it?
