I think that anything is possible as long as you have the correct amount of determination. However, more often than not, this determination comes from social support.

IIt depends how long they have been an addict and how badly they want to kick the habit. There are a lot of addictive substances and they have different levels of addiction but I believe it can be done if the will is strong.

I think that people can stop the behavior.  However, I think for long-term recovery, extra help and support is needed.  It's usually necessary to learn why those patterns and behaviors started and how to avoid repeating them.  That's very difficult to do on your own.

I have known people who have just stopped drinking and/or drugging. Some people can do it on their own, others need the extra support  to get them through.

Do you think an alcoholic (or drug addict) can quit cold turkey without help? Is it possible to be successful without seeking a doctor or do they need to go to rehab?
