I had that happen a few years ago. It was scary because no matter what I did, I kept having more and more pain. It turns out that this can be a symptom. Your body thinks it is in more pain that it really is. The pain doctors made me stop cold turkey. It was awful, but it worked. You need to see a doctor first, though.

My wife also got addicted to her pain medication. She now cuts them in half. She seems to be doing fine but I still want her to talk to her doctor too.

I agree with Jack. If you're feeling some strange symptoms after going off your pain medication, it's time to see the doctor and get some professional help. Your doctor can figure out the right way to get you off the medication.

Oh my! It's time to have a serious discussion with your doctor. Call the office and make an appointment to talk to him ASAP. Tell them you need to discuss a problem with your pain meds and they should be able to get you in even if they work you in to see him/her.

i had spinal fusion surgery done in 2005. But I am having a lot of pain. I need the hardware taken out. But I have no insurance or disability like I said in another thread. I am going to tell my doctor i want to start weaning off the pain meds some. I don`t see him again until July. He isn`t my surgeon because he wants $200 per visit and there is nothing he can do besides surgery.

I would say call your doctor first thing in the morning and tell him what you just wrote. Pain meds can be very addiciting and you don't want to fall into this trap.
When are you having surgery?

You say you haven't had your surgery yet? What do you take them for? If you are having this much trouble now maybe it is time to talk to the doctor to see if they can give you something that isn't addictive.

I had a friend come visit me from New York a few weeks ago. I wanted to drive her around so I didn`t take any pain meds. I was hurting but I don`t drive when I am on those things. Well, at the end of the day I was feeling really weird. My head was spinning and i could hear ringing in my ears. My husband said I was withdrawing from not taking my pain meds. So how am I ever going to get off them if and when I get my surgery done?
