I used Prilosec for awhile but it was short term and it did help a lot. It did take a few days to get into my system but once it did I didn't have heartburn again. I don't have it as much anymore so I don't take anything.

Zantac, or the generic Ranitidine used to be prescribed by doctors. It is fairly inexpensive and works pretty well.
I took Prilosec for years, but I started needing a bigger dose for it to work. Then I read about the effect it can have on your bones if you take it long-term, and I weaned myself off, and started on the Zantac.

I also use Pepcid Complete and it works great. I don't want to take something everyday if I don't need to. I wait until I get heartburn and then pop a pill. At first I hated to eat it, it's not as chaulky as it was years ago though.

I take Pepcid Complete or sometimes I take Prilosec for 14 days and it usually clears up my heartburn. I don't know if I have acid reflux but it helps with the heartburn.

Has anybody had any luck with the major OTC brands? When I was pregnant I had some horrific reflux issues and I used Tums to combat it. I should have taken out stock in the Tums company at the time because I was eating them like they were candy, lol. They didn't work for long, but they did give me nearly instant relief.
